Aadhaar Now Mandatory for IRCTC Tatkal Bookings
Indian Railways has now made it mandatory for passengers to book Tatkal tickets to connect its Aadhaar number with their IRCTC accounts. The move aims to strengthen the safety of the reservation system, curb the use of fraud of total quota and ensure a smooth, more certified booking experience for real travelers.
Booking agents are now banned from burning tickets during the first 30 minutes of the Tatkal Advance Reservation period (ARP), which gives regular passengers a better chance to secure tickets with low competition.

- Step 1: Log In
- Go to the official IRCTC portal at
www.irctc.co.inand sign in using your registered user ID and password.

- Locate and select the ‘My Profile’ option, which can be found within the ‘My Account’ section.
- Step 3: Select Aadhaar KYC
- Choose the “Aadhaar KYC” option from the available list.
- Step 4: Enter Aadhaar Details
- Enter your 12-conductive Aadhaar and tick the consent checkbox to allow IRCTC to verify your identity through UIDAI.
- Step 5: Verify with OTP
- An OTP (one-time password) will be sent to the mobile number associated with your Aadhaar. Enter the code and click “Verify”.
- Step 6: Complete the Process
- Once your information is successfully certified, your KYC details will be displayed. Click “Submit” to finalize Aadhaar linking.
- Step 7: Track Status
- To check if your Aadhaar has been successfully verified, go to the “User Certified” section under the “My Accounts” tab.
