Shark Tank India pitchers suffer from ‘trauma’ after facing rejection by all five Sharks: ‘Izzat toh bacha lete’
After facing rejection from all five Sharks on Shark Tank India, Darayus Mehta and Parin Shah, the owners of True Diamond, a designer jewelry brand, took to social media to share their thoughts. While many entrepreneurs express disappointment after unsuccessful pitches, Darayus and Parin chose to respond with humor. They posted a lighthearted video where they poked fun at themselves following their setback on the show.
In the video, the duo was seen rallying their team despite their pitch failing to impress the Sharks. One founder remarked, “This is the best thing that could have happened to us,” while the other called for a celebration, referring to their Shark Tank appearance as a “life-changing experience.” An employee humorously questioned, “Are they aware they got completely rejected?” Another added, “I skipped my sister’s wedding to help them with their numbers, but they still messed it up.” One employee attempted to interpret the founders’ odd behavior, suggesting, “I think it’s trauma. Their brains just rewrote the pitch.” Another colleague called their presentation ‘poor.’ The founders admitted to not having slept for seven days leading up to their appearance. An employee commented, “They didn’t secure funding, which is fine, but they could have at least preserved their honor.”
In the video, another team member suggested, “I think we should call her. It might be the only way to bring them back to reality.” The message “Stay tuned for what happened next” flashed on the screen, hinting at future developments.

True Diamond’s Shark Tank India Pitch
True Diamond made its appearance in episode 5 of the current season of Shark Tank India, competing against Emori, a lab-grown diamond brand. They requested an investment of Rs 1.08 crore for a 1% stake in their company. The pitch included a dramatic moment when Darayus went down on one knee to propose to Shark Namita Thapar, presenting her with a ring in a flower-shaped case. While Namita accepted the ring, she inquired about the nature of the proposal.
As they showcased their designs, Aman Gupta expressed dissatisfaction, stating that one ring resembled a “bottle opener,” while he deemed another design “too common.” The founders attempted to justify their choices by explaining that they wanted to display both an edgy design and a popular one. However, the Sharks were not convinced by their understanding of the business metrics or the high valuation they presented, leading them to decline the investment opportunity. In contrast, Emori secured a deal from the Sharks.
